Video: The Miniature Earth (with music by John Lennon)
Title: The Miniature Earth (with music by John Lennon)
Description: This video is not made by me, but by another user before. Luckily I downloaded it before it was taken down. Frankly, while I like the other versions with original music, they pale in front of the awesomeness that John Lennon had conveyed in his song "Imagine". I find it most fitting to the idea behind the Miniature Earth, and so please enjoy this version, and think about what we need to do. BTW, I just bought a copy of the song from iTunes today, so EMI had no excuses to claim that I pirated the song off the internet. p.s. Maybe I should state it more clearly: I can't say this for Lennon, but I bet he would love this video as much as anyone do, and probably license his song as Creative Commons for sharing. If only he was still alive...
Video: Earth Song - Frank Tichelli
Title: Earth Song - Frank Tichelli
Description: Sing, Be, Live, See This dark stormy hour, the wind, it stirs. The scorched Earth cries out in vain. Oh war and power, you blind and blur. The torn heart cries out in pain. But music and singing have been my refuge, and music and singing shall be my light. A light of song, shining strong. Hallelujah! Hallelujah. Through darkness and pain and strife, I'll sing, I'll be, live, see. Peace. Credits: USC Thornton Chamber Choir Director: William Dehning This piece means a lot to me. Enjoy!!!

Title: Side By Side - Earth, Wind & Fire
Description: I heard this one while at the public library in 1999. I picked up Earth, Wind & Fire's love song compilation... don't know whethe I heard this one while at the public library in 1999. I picked up Earth, Wind & Fire's love song compilation... don't know whether it was love songs, or ballads, but I do know "I'll Write a Song for you" was on that compilation album too. Anywho, I just wanted to share this one for you all, because, I really like Earth, Wind & Fire. This is from their 1983 album "Powerlight" FYI: The first track to get my attention to EWF was "September". I heard it in 1998, when I listened to the soundtrack of "Soul Food". Ever since, EWF has won me over.
Video: Bad Religion - Flat Earth Society lyrics
Title: Bad Religion - Flat Earth Society lyrics
Description: (words and music by Mr. Brett) Flat Earth Society It's a society that actually exists. The UK Subs album Riot also has a song called Flat Earth Society. And Dimentia Thirteen have an LP called Flat Earth Society. The concept of a spherical Earth was espoused by Pythagoras, apparently on aesthetic grounds[1], as he also held all other celestial bodies to be spherical. It displaced earlier beliefs in a flat Earth: In early Mesopotamian thought, the world was portrayed as a flat disk floating in the ocean, and this forms the premise for early Greek maps like those of Anaximander and Hecataeus of Miletus. Other speculations on the shape of Earth include a seven-layered ziggurat or cosmic mountain, alluded to in the Avesta and ancient Persian writings (see seven climes). As determined by modern instruments, a sphere approximates the earth's shape to within one part in 300. An oblate ellipsoid with a flattening of 1/300 approximates the earth exceedingly well Nicolaus Copernicus (February 19, 1473 — May 24, 1543) was the first astronomer to formulate a scientifically based heliocentric cosmology that displaced the Earth from the center of the universe. His epochal book, De revolutionibus orbium coelestium (On the Revolutions of the Celestial Spheres), is often regarded as the starting point of modern astronomy and the defining epiphany that began the Scientific Revolution. Although Greek, Indian and Muslim savants had published heliocentric hypotheses centuries before Copernicus, his publication of a scientific theory of heliocentrism, demonstrating that the motions of celestial objects can be explained without putting the Earth at rest in the center of the universe, stimulated further scientific investigations, and became a landmark in the history of modern science that is known as the Copernican Revolution. Among the great polymaths of the Renaissance, Copernicus was a mathematician, astronomer, physician, classical scholar, translator, Catholic cleric, jurist, governor, military leader, diplomat and economist. Amid his extensive responsibilities, astronomy figured as little more than an avocation — yet it was in that field that he made his mark upon the world.
