Johnnie Ray was enormously popular in Australia in the 1950's (especially with women), and drew huge crowds whenever he visited here. He was classified as a 'crooner'. Lynn recorded her version in 1972, and gave the former 'crooning' song a distinct 'country and western' sound. It made it into the top 20 in that year. It reached No.2 position on the Australian charts in April/May of 1971. The cassette deck is a 1975 model Sony TC-152SD.
