Title: 6 Days On The Road by Max Creek
Description: Max Creek recorded at Sunday River Ski Resort in Bethel ME on 10-07-06.
Six Days on the Road was written by Muscle Shoals songwriter Carl Montgomery and Earl Green .
It was made famous originally by country music singer Dave Dudley. Released in 1963, it reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart that summer. It is often hailed as the definitive celebration of the American truck driver.
It has most noteably been covered by Steve Earle (soundtrack to Planes Trains and Automobiles) , Sawyer Brown, Boxcar Willie, George Thorogood, the Flying Burrito Brothers, Tom Petty's band Mudcrutch, and Taj Mahal.
Lyrics
Well, I pulled out of Pittsburgh,
Rollin' down the Eastern Seaboard.
I've got my diesel wound up,
And she's running like never before.
There's a speed zone ahead, all right,
I don't see a cop in sight.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
I got ten forward gears,
And a Georgia overdrive.
I'm taking little white pills,
And my eyes are open wide.
I just passed a 'Jimmy' and a 'White':
I've been passin' everything in sight.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
Well, it seems like a month,
Since I kissed my baby good-bye.
I could have a lot of women,
But I'm not like some other guys.
I could find one to hold me tight,
But I could never believe that it's right.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
I.C.C. is checking on down the line.
I'm a little overweight and my log's three days behind.
But nothing bothers me tonight.
I can dodge all the scales all right,
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
Well my rig's a little old,
But that don't mean she's slow.
There's a flame from her stack,
And the smoke's rolling black as coal.
My hometown's coming in sight,
If you think I'm happy your right.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.
Six days on the road and I'm gonna make it home tonight.

Title: Tom Petty - "Learning To Fly" (1991) "Aprendiendo a volar"
Description: Thomas Earl "Tom" Petty (born October 20, 1950) is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist. He is the frontman of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and a member of Mudcrutch. He was also a member of the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys under the pseudonym of Charlie T. Wilbury, Jnr. He has recorded a number of hit singles, many of which remain heavily played on adult contemporary and classic rock radio. Petty is also a vocal critic of the modern recording industry and the disappearance of independent radio stations.
Petty has been supported by his band, The Heartbreakers, for the majority of his career. He has occasionally released solo work, as is the case with 2006's Highway Companion, on which he performed most of the backing instrumentation himself. However, members of The Heartbreakers have played on each of his solo albums and the band has always backed him when touring in support of those albums. He has also toured with Mudcrutch in order to promote their debut album. Petty has been managed by Tony Dimitriades since 1976. On February 3, 2008, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers performed at the Super Bowl XLII Halftime show.
THE SONG
"Learning To Fly" is a popular track by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. It was written in 1991 by Tom Petty and his writing partner Jeff Lynne for the album Into The Great Wide Open. It was used on the Chicago Bulls' 1991 NBA championship video and featured on the soundtrack of the 2005 film Elizabethtown, directed by Cameron Crowe[citation needed].
"Learning to Fly" was released as the first single of the Into the Great Wide Open album, and reached #28 on the US Billboard Chart.
Though the entire song is based on only four simple chords, (A minor, C, F, and G), it is considered to have a unique structure and sound, making it a top hit for Petty.
INSPIRATION
It has been confirmed through interviews with Tom Petty that he was spurred to write "Learning To Fly" when he saw an interview with a pilot on television. The pilot mentioned that it was not hard to learn to fly, but coming down is fairly challenging. This does not necessarily mean that the song's meaning is about the actual act of flying, as the music video suggests the song is about growing up.
