Title: KILLSWITCH ENGAGE on CAPITAL CHAOS 2007
Description: Killswitch Engage perform "My Curse" @ Warped Tour 2007 @ Sleep Train Amphitheater in Marysville, CA 8/233/07 also on the bill were Bad Religion, Coheed & Cambria, As I Lay Dying & more http://www.capitalchaos.net ..Killswitch Engage (often abbreviated as KSE or Killswitch) is a Grammy nominated Metalcore band from Westfield, Massachusetts. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killswitch_Engage The band is currently signed to Roadrunner Records. Killswitch Engage is a Metalcore band that is popular among fans of the genre. http://killswitchengage.com Their music incorporates elements of twin guitar harmonies, drop C power chords as well as clean guitar breaks. Following the demise of his old band Overcast in 1998, bassist Mike D'Antonio explored the underground heavy metal scenes in search of members for a new band. In 1999, D'Antonio met Adam Dutkiewicz and Joel Stroetzel, guitarists for Aftershock. Dutkiewicz took the role of playing drums, while Stroetzel remained on guitar. The trio searched for a vocalist and eventually hired Jesse Leach, formerly of Corrin and Nothing Stays Gold. The now four-member band took the name of "Killswitch Engage," a name proposed by D'Antonio after watching an episode of the FOX program The X-Files entitled "Kill Switch". The episode's writer, William Gibson, came up with the title after a chance meeting with the industrial band Kill Switch...Klick; the bands are otherwise unrelated. While on tour with Steve Young and Shadows Fall, Ferret Records took notice of Killswitch Engage's aggressive live show. The band signed with the record label and began recording their debut album.

The band's self-titled debut album was sufficient to earn them a deal with Roadrunner Records. Soon after signing with Roadrunner, the band decided to become a five-piece by bringing in former Overcast guitarist Pete Cortese. However, Cortese left soon after. In 2002 they released their second album, Alive or Just Breathing. This album greatly increased the band's exposure and placed them on the Billboard Magazine Top Heatseekers chart. The CMJ New Music Report described the record as "more addictive than crack cocaine that's been smothered in nicotine AND drenched with chocolate" The band was once more made a five-piece when Dutkiewicz moved to guitars, with former Aftershock drummer Tom Gomes taking the vacant spot left. This move allowed the band's songs to include two guitars. Leach left the band shortly after the release of Alive or Just Breathing. He had married his fiancée while on tour, but was separated from her due to the demanding tour schedule. Subsequently, Leach fell into a deep depression. During shows, he began screaming with more emotion than technique, and exhausted his voice. After the last show of their tour in Seattle, he sent the band an e-mail in which he explained his situation (see the World Ablaze DVD). This, coupled with the band's touring commitments, prompted Leach's departure in June 2002. Leach was replaced by Howard Jones, of Blood Has Been Shed, who has remained the band's vocalist since.

The new lineup played on the Road Rage tour in the UK and the Netherlands in 2002 with 36 Crazyfists, and continued touring throughout the rest of the year. In 2003, the band released the song When Darkness Falls, which appeared on the soundtrack of the 2003 horror film Freddy vs. Jason. The same year they also played the Ozzfest festival, after which drummer Tom Gomes left the band to live in Los Angeles with his wife and pursue their current band, (Something Of A Silhouette). He was replaced by Jones' fellow Blood Has Been Shed band member, Justin Foley, previously of jazz metal band Red Tide. Foley's first tour with the band was the MTV2 Headbangers Ball in 2003.

Title: Dirty Fingers
Description: Lyrics:
Battles are won through the hearts
of the strong.
Cowards will fall and can't fix
what is wrong.
I've laid down and died for the very
last time.
You thought you had won, but it's only
begun.
You have no idea what you've done.
I'm going to fight and take back
what is mine.
I will refuse to give up
my life.
It is my time to end
all this strife.
I've laid down and died for the very
last time.
Blood has been shed, but I'm nowhere
near dead.
It's too near the end to back down.
I'm going to fight and take back
what is mine.
-guitar solo-
It is all over now. I've
overcome.
Now that you're gone, I've won my
freedom.
I've laid down and died for the very
last time.
The end has arrived; never felt
so alive.
It has all been said and done.
I'm going to fight and take back
what is mine.

Title: Bruce Springsteen - Gypsy Biker Live
Description: For nearly 35 years Bruce Springsteen has been singing about the American working class, in his anthems of hope and redemption. Throughout his long and successful career, he has become not only one of popular music's most celebrated figures, but an American icon. As a songwriter, Springsteen is among Rock music's finest, a master storyteller whose songs often carry a political message that is not always obvious at first listen, but over time tends to seep in to the listener's conscience. Springsteen's latest release, 2007's Magic continues in this tradition, most notably with the sepia toned rocker Gypsy Biker, a song that in many ways can be viewed as an alternate take on the story Springsteen tells in his 1983 ballad Shut Out The Light
It has become rather rare in today's music scene to find an artist 35 years in to his career as a singer-songwriter that can still write lyrics as moving as he did 25 years earlier, while managing to taking a new approach to performance and production. Then again, if you look closely, Bruce Springsteen has been evolving artistically since the inception of his career, it should be no surprise that he is continuing to do so today.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Gypsy Biker -
The speculators made their money
On the blood you shed.
Your Mama's pulled the sheets up off your bed.
The profiteers on Jane Street
Sold your shoes and clothes.
Ain't nobody talking 'cause everybody knows.
We pulled your cycle out of the garage,
And polished up the chrome.
Our Gypsy biker's comin' home
Sister Mary sits with your colors
Brother John is drunk and gone
This whole town's been rousted
Which side are you on
The favored march up over the hill
In some fools parade
Shoutin' victory for the righteous
But there ain't much here but graves
Ain't nobody talkin'
We're just waitin' on the phone
Our Gypsy biker is comin' home
We rode her into the foothills
Bobby brought the gasoline
We stood 'round her in a circle
As she lit up the ravine
The spring high desert wind
Rushed down on us all the way back home
To the dead it don't matter much
'Bout who's wrong or right
You asked me that question I didn't get it right
You slipped into your darkness
Now all that remains
Is my love for you brother
Lying still and unchanged
To them that threw you away
You ain't nothin' but gone
Our Gypsy biker is comin' home
Now I'm out countin' white lines
Countin' white lines and getting stoned
My Gypsy biker is coming home.
