This was Ian's third album after his departure from Fairport Convention. Iain Matthews (known in the 1960s first as Ian McDonald, and from the late 1960s until 1989 as Ian Matthews)is an English musician and songwriter. He was born Iain Matthew McDonald, 16 June 1946,Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, England. Influenced by both rock and roll and folk music,he has performed mainly as a solo act,although he was a member of Fairport Convention during the early period when they were heavily influenced by American West Coast folk rock. He later had a solo career and fronted the bands Plainsong and Matthews Southern Comfort. Matthews grew up in a working-class family in Scunthorpe England. It has been featured in many music videos and films, one of which that stuck in my mind was Snatch, as i remember all the girls wanted to know if brad had really been there. We had to paint some of the walls, with "grime" (mouldy leaves with paint mix) as they had old graff from previous shoots, it was all racist symbols or just stupid. we then got the big light boxes in with the film stills on, and sprayed the floor with water to get the reflections. The host is quite famous in France, and is known for being fussy, so it was funny that it was shot in a filthy car park. complete with junkie needles on the floor. it was terrible conditions to shoot in, your mouth was raw at the end of the day from all the dust etc. all for the love of film making. The music is by the Nine Inch Nails, and was used in the film titles of SE7EN. still one of the best title sequences around, by the one and only Karl Cooper.
