Title: Circle Jerks- Group Sex
Description: (Part of the fROMIOWA'S Collection series)
Let's say you want something hard, loud, and fast. Let's say you want something that will really get your heart pumping. Let's say you want blistering guitar riffs and drum beats. Let's say you want to know what hardcore is all about.
I have just what you need, my friend. the Circle Jerk's 1980 debut album "Group Sex."
I got this one in early June 2007, however I had been listening to them since the fall of 2006 thanks to my brother having a Napster account. There's a lot of cool music I got to listen to and found thanks to Napster.
Anyway the songs are "World Up My Ass", "Don't Care' and "Live Fast, Die Young."
Title: Mike Watt - Against The 70`s
Description: Good album I came upon thanks to my girlfriend. A BIG 90`s roster on this one.
"Ball-Hog or Tugboat? is the debut solo album by former Minutemen and fIREHOSE bassist, songwriter and vocalist Mike Watt. It was recorded in 1994, and came at a personal and professional career crossroads for Watt. fIREHOSE had broken up after eight years and six releases earlier in 1994, and his marriage to former Black Flag bassist Kira Roessler had ended in divorce (although both their friendship and their dual-bass project Dos continued; Kira also contributed some computer graphics to the album's artwork).
Without a full-time band, Watt recruited a wide variety of friends and fellow travelers to participate in the recording of the album. These included fellow SST Records alumni like former Black Flag vocalist Henry Rollins, members of Sonic Youth, Curt and Cris Kirkwood of the Meat Puppets, former Saccharine Trust guitarist Joe Baiza, Dinosaur Jr's J Mascis, and former SST house producer Spot, as well as members of bands who had either toured with and/or been influenced by the Minutemen and fIREHOSE, including Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder, Nirvana's Pat Smear, Krist Novoselic, and Dave Grohl (making their first recorded appearance on a record since Kurt Cobain's death), Jane's Addiction and Porno for Pyros drummer Stephen Perkins, Red Hot Chili Peppers's Flea, Soul Asylum's Dave Pirner, former Germs and Nirvana guitarist Pat Smear, former Pixies singer Frank Black, former Screamers and Twisted Roots keyboardist Paul Roessler (who was also Watt's brother-in-law), The Lemonheads frontman Evan Dando, The Circle Jerks's Zander Schloss, jazz/punk guitar wizard Nels Cline and his drummer Michael Preussner, That dog's Petra and Rachel Haden and Anna Waronker and Mike D and Adam Horowitz of the Beastie Boys. Also participating on the album were Parliament/Funkadelic organist Bernie Worrell, Carla Bozulich of the Geraldine Fibbers and Bruce Hornsby drummer John Molo."
Title: Minutemen- Fortunate Son
Description: Outtake from the Joy sessions in 1981.
"The Minutemen's cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Fortunate Son"--which is itself one of the greatest political songs of all time, but which is not quite as good as the Minutemen's version, because Mike Watt's bass line sounds so goddamn funk-ass amazing coming out of the stereo that you want to crap your pants and run around gurgling like Lewis Black--is the greatest cover of all time."
Title: Minutemen- Live in Miami 5
Description: This a portion from a 42-song set from a gig at Flynn's Ocean 71 Miami Beach, FL on August 2, 1984. Here they are performing five of their funkiest/bluesiest/jazziest songs:
It's Expected I'm Gone
Political Song For Michael Jackson To Sing
Anxious Mo-Fo
Please Don't Be Gentle With Me
Split Red
Title: Minutemen- Cohesion
Description: Something I made on a whim. Cohesion has nice Latin/country sound to it , so I thought it would be cool to use a sepia and old film effect to give it a Western look. I love this song, it has such a nice breezy, mellow sound to it.
(Add &fmt=18 to the URL to view high quality version. The video looked much better in Windows Media Player and Movie Maker.)
Title: The Bellrays - Voodoo Train - LIVE 2007 Hollywood
Description: This performance is from The F.O.R. Benefit (Friends Of Richie) took place at Safari Sam's in Hollywood, on Saturday March 31st 2007.
Richie Hass is an amazing multi-instrumentalist musician. Alumnus of Zoogz Rift's band, he is best known these days for playing in Saccharine
Trust and also with Joe Baiza's Universal Congress - probably the top vibraphonist in Southern California.
Richie was recently diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a cancer of the bone marrow, and since he is a self employed musician, he has no health insurance.
The LA music community was rocked back on their heels by this news. Everybody loves Richie. So a group of musicians, together with the IMF, put together this benefit in Richie's honor. And while the benefit was held in Richie's honor, he has opted to donate the proceeds to the International Myeloma Foundation for much-needed research to find the cure for this disease.

Title: Minutemen- King of the Hill & Take Our Test
Description: Audio of their concert at The Stone nightclub in San Francisco on March 1, 1985. Here are two songs from Project Mersh: "King of the Hill" and "Take Our Test"
King of the Hill has as much political relevance with today's administration as it did to the Reagan administration. I wish Dubya would hear The Cheerleaders:
"past: will the nation grow? Prosperity may last. Can we look at the problems
ahead? With our heads in the sand, we might as well be dead! Cheer him on:
"The Leader Of The Team." He'll push on through at all cost to win! But are we
free to think for ourselves or doomed to repeat our mistakes? Can you hear them
call your name? Can you count the lives they take? Do you have to see the body
bags before you make a stand? Just a little bit too late. Watch the cheerleaders
call our their names on the sidelines. They can feel the players sweat. I wonder
if that is all they see? All the rallies will never set them free!"
BlankTV posted the Tour video which contains some but not all of that concert. Fortunately, I have audio of the whole gig downloaded, so I decided to upload the audio with some photos from that era to compensate for the lack of actual video.
Title: Minutemen 1985
Description: Minutemen performing at a party in the summer of '85.
Finding a live version of "Theater is the Life of You" is hard, and the ones I've found are too low quality.
What often stands out about Double Nickels to me is George's drumming, what's more impressive is actually witnessing the drumming. George's rhythms look as crazy as they sound.

Title: Minutemen- Little Man With a Gun In His Hand
Description: This song originally appeared on "Buzz or Howl..." which was produced by both Spot and Ethan James. The version they recorded with Spot lacked a true ending instead it faded-out. For "Double Nickels...", the song was re-recorded by Ethan James at Radio Tokyo studios, and this time the songs hand an actual ending. (On the original "Double Nickels..." it was the third to last song.)
Though, Mike Watt himself prefers the original.
Title: Mike Watt and the Missing Men ~ (2007)
Description: Three Girl Rhumba and Ex-Lion Tamer. Performed by The Missing Men (Mike Watt on bass/vocals, Tom Watson on guitar and Raul Morales on drums).
This performance is from The F.O.R. Benefit (Friends Of Richie) took place at Safari Sam's in Hollywood, on Saturday March 31st 2007.
