Title: Scorn - On Ice
Description: Artist: Scorn Song: On Ice Album: Vae Solis Year: 1992 Track #: 8 of 13 The first incarnation of British industrial/dub music project Scorn was as a trio on their first album "Vae Solis" released by Earache Records. To say the least, the album was a reunion of three original and core members of the grindcore act Napalm Death: Mick Harris (drums), Nik Bullen (vocals, bass) and Justin K. Broadrick (guitars). This is the only album where Scorn was ever a trio, as well as the only to feature Justin on guitars. Interestingly, the three formed Scorn because they all were tired of the punk scene, as well as didn't like the death metal direction Napalm Death was taking. The three have always shared an interest in industrial music ala Swans, Throbbing Gristle and 60's psychedelia, so they decided to create Scorn (well, Mick and Nik were the official members, Justin was considered a "guest" on the album). This is the only Scorn album that is heavily guitar driven, as well as possess some heavier moments than future Scorn albums. It also is one of the few albums to heavily incorporate movie samples in songs. The album can be best described as a Godflesh meets Coil hybrid, full of droning guitars, reverb/dub style live drums, pitchshifted harsh vocals, and gritty production. Later Scorn releases would be more in the minimalistic industrial/dub vein where Mick Harris would be the only member in the group, whereas Nik would disappear from the music scene in 1994 after the release of ...
Title: Dead Boys "Sonic Reducer"
Description: The Dead Boys were one of the first punk bands to escalate the level of violence, nihilism, and pure ugliness of punk rock to extreme new levels. Although considered part of New York's mid-'70s CBGB's scene, all of its bandmembers originally hailed from Cleveland, OH. The group's roots lay in the early-'70s Cleveland cult band Rocket from the Tombs, which included future Dead Boys Cheetah Chrome (aka Gene O'Connor) on guitar, and Johnny Blitz (aka John Madansky) on drums, along with future Pere Ubu members David Thomas and Peter Laughner. The group's sound was a bit too comparable to art rock for Chrome and Blitz's tastes (whose influences included the Stooges, Alice Cooper, and the New York Dolls), and by 1975, Rocket from the Tombs had split up.
Title: Sonic Flux - Ticking Clocks
Description: Visit www.myspace.com to hear more of my music. My name is Cory, but I release my music under the moniker "Sonic Flux". This is a video I made for a song I recorded a while back. I had been getting some messages lately about my music so I figured I'd upload something. The resolution is pretty awful because I was limited by the resolution of the source material - which was awful. Even so, it's good enough that you can get the idea. I wanted to make a video for this because I thought it would help convey the message of the song. The song is *far* from my best, but I think it turned out decently - especially since I still haven't gotten a decent mic yet. I've been recording music for years but until recently they were all instrumentals. I wanted to start adding some lyrics to my songs and this is one of my earliest attempts to do that. The song is very simple and borderline ambient, but I think it's alright. Human history is characterized by violence and misery. That's a sad fact, but a fact nonetheless. History has a habit of repeating itself, and though the players change, the game always plays out the same. We have to simply pull ourselves up and go on with our lives. Lyrics: Ticking clocks, They never stop, Always turning the wheel, Endless nights, In an endless daze, I can't see the end, But I know this, What e'er may come, I will greet the day, I may not know, What the clocks will bring, But I know I will remain, Ticking clocks hear them chime the time away, Ticking ...

Title: Sin - Crown of Thorns (crust punk Nausea industrial project)
Description: Artist: Sin Song: Crown of Thorns Album: No Rest For The Wicked (Sin/Spine Wrench split LP) Year: 1992 Track 3 of 8 Sin hailed from New York City, NY in the USA. It was a side project between some members of the well established crust punk band Nausea. The music on this split LP (released by Graven Image Records) is the only known music they recorded, which is drum machine driven harsh, down-tuned industrial metal. Sin broke up after the release of this split LP and some members formed the hardcore band Cattle Press, who released a demo, and a full length album "Hordes To Abolish The Divine" in 1999. They too split up after a while.
